A Community Thrives

When Residents Become Involved

Welcome to

Mr. Mike's Neighborhood

My name is Mike Whitty, and along with Linda Varee, we'd like to Welcome you to  Mr. Mike's Neighborhood.  Some of you may recognize me from my walks around the park, or others may have passed by my beautiful garden.  But I'm an 12 year resident, own my home, and am planning on spending my later years in this beautiful park.  And it's for this reason that I'm starting Mike's Neighborhood.  I want every resident to enjoy this Community as much as I do; to know your neighbors, to take pride in your Community, to have a vested interest in making your, and your neighbors time here as memorable as possible.  And to know that you had a hand in it.

When the Director and Assistant Director, affectionately known as Mr. Mike and Miss Linda, decided to start an Association that would help the Neighbors within Lafayette Place Mobile Home Park, they started it with their own money and had to figure out ways to get their message across without having a healthy bankroll.

SUN COMMUNITIES REFUSES A DISPENSATION FOR MR. MIKE'S NEIGHBORHOOD

I've been trying to get a dispensation from Sun Communities to be able to pass out my newsletters to each home like I used to, but they said "NO" because I'd be "IMPEDING ON YOUR PRIVACY."  I tried to have Sun Communities to allow me to knock on my Neighbors door to see if I can remove the weeds on your patio sidewalks, but they said "NO" because they would accuse me of "RESIDENT ANNOYANCE."  I tried to get Sun Communities to let me help clean the weeds from our curbs, but they said "NO"  because they don't allow "VOLUNTEERISM" in our Community.  So, Miss Linda and I agreed that we would no longer help Sun Communities, our Park Manager Nicolette Chamberlain, and our Office Manager Marsha Davis with anything that would help them with our Community to include picking up the trash in the Park and putting the trash cans back to your homes, which we received many, many thanks from our Neighbors.  Keep coming to the website for further news.

HOW SUN COMMUNITIES KILLED A NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION by Mike Whitty

When Sun Communities forced me to shut down the Lafayette Place Neighborhood Association, I wrote this ebook to lay out the steps they took to not only make my life miserable, but their efforts to deny you, my Neighbors the services that have benefited many of you.  The ebook is over 30 pages, so I can't put the entire text here, but click on this link and you'll be able to read it right on the website.

HOW THE MOVIE MONEYBALL INSPIRED MR. MIKE'S NEIGHBORHOOD

by Mike Whitty

Moneyball centers on the Oakland Athletics' General Manager Billy Beane, who after a bad start as a MLB player, moved over to management and was driven by his hatred of losing. In his previous season, he'd taken the A's to the World Series, only to have them lose and see their best three players hired away by richer teams offering much bigger salaries.
